Recent Work

Work, play, and time are the conceptual centerpieces of several series of animations. Each takes a unique perspective on global society where their meanings unite and fracture us. Each series uses language in some form, audio, and repetition. In keeping with my praxis, the context of each series focuses on specific ideas that reoccur in my work: demarcation, appropriation, and chance.

The series titled Coding the Computerface uses the computer environment as the backdrop or set of several animations that deal with issues of human rights, economics, and culture through the use of virtual graphical metaphors. The series juxtaposes the seductive environment of the computer with language.

The series titled Play also uses the computer environment and incorporates issues of time and its passage through the use of the metaphoric computer environment. The ideas of work and play are explored through the actions such as virtual doodling.

Multiplying Time is a time-based series incorporating reality, repetition, memory, and serendipity. The concept of memory is recontextualized as a perceptual structure or pattern that emerges and submerges as it crisscrosses dimensionally in time touching the past, present, and future. Memories are experienced both individually and collectively through various means and media and when they collide, their there is discovered or found.
